New Baby arrives

Maddie got a new baby in the mail today! My mom made a great baby for us - we were getting some funny 'race' comments from Madelyn and decided that we could use a few more shades of skin around here! Maddie rocked baby all the way home from the post office. Tonight she introduced her to her other babies and they smooched each other up. Baby's name seems to be Anna and occasionally Ella (sounds like Alah!)... depending on the the mood. The other big hit was that Baby showed up wearing a pink napkin wrap-skirt - Maddie thought that was the BEST! She tried it on numerous times, tried it on all of her babies, used it for a blanket, etc. Such simple tastes...:)

Headed to Florida tomorrow at noon - will try and post a few here and there along the 'road!'

The joys of 2

Ah, well, here are 2 random clips of Maddie playing in the kitchen while I get dinner ready... it appears that she loves to play with food, which is probably true, but really it's just that food is what's available to play with in the kitchen!? Not her chattiest moments, but funny to see what captures her attention to the point of silence! Sorry such a long movie - I'm desperate for something to put up for the G-team before we leave for Florida! Don't worry Mom and Dad, I will try and post as we go:)

Another beautiful day! Yeehaw!

Madelyn and I went on a great walk after school, played "can't catch me!" (Maddie's name for 'tag'), reintroduced ourselves to all of the doggies in the neighborhood, and practiced some skipping:) I wish I caught the skipping on video, it was priceless! Mostly big jumps in succession, with an occasional sideways leg-kick.... I'll work on reproducing that one!

Madelyn's 2nd b-day party!

What fun we had today! We met up with friends at the Center for the Arts, in the children's studio and got messy! We made rain-sticks, painted some plate-shakers, played outside, and got our faces painted. Maddie asked for blueberry "cupcakes" and pirate bootie, so that was the on the kids' menu... Fun was had by all I think! A few clips and a put-together movie for those who couldn't make it:)

Story Time at Library

Story Time at the library this morning! And, it was the first night in a week that Maddie actually slept through the night, so I actually had the energy to drag myself out first thing in the morning! Maddie had a good time doing some Irish jigging, but was getting a little tired out and really just wanted to do her own thing:)

Another nutty week! Maddie stayed home on Tuesday and Wednesday with mild fevers and a serious lack of sleep. We suspected ear infection, but it turns out 3 more molars are breaking through. What I thought were her 2-year molars in the last round were apparently not, so here we go again! This kid is rough stuff when teething! She is either wide awake all night, up every 30 minutes, or throwing raging tantrums!? Not much seems to work- we've tried magic sleepy milk, music, endless rocking, and plenty of doses of IB ... She does seem to prefer our bed these days, which is bad news for Mike and I because as much as we love Madelyn, she is an awful bed-sharer!! Everyone is looking a little rough here at the end of the week. Glad to get it over and done now and not over our spring break trip to Florida!

Here's Maddie after coming home from 'school' with a new hair-do. Somehow, she willingly lets the ladies at daycare do her hair - I never have any success with it, so more power to them!

I'm home from school today (paybacks for conferences all week), catching up on sleep and getting ready for M's birthday party on Sunday. I'm hoping to find a few hours to go on a nice long walk down the Refuge Road and look for blue birds -tis the season!

What a week!

Whoo-weee, what a beautiful week! Our snow is quickly disappearing and the days are so much longer!... look out mud season, here we come! Maddie took her mud boots for a spin, and we discovered that they're about a size and half too big. But it didn't stop us from having some puddle-stomping fun after school one day.

Margot is back from her 3 month sabbatical - we had her over for a quick dinner on Thursday and Madelyn was overjoyed to get some snuggle time in with one of her favorite Aunties.

A busy week ahead for Lisa - conference, report cards, and the Community Garden idea goes before the Parks and Rec board on Thursday evening. The whole project has become a bit more complicated than intended, but that's politics in Jackson!
