More Pics!

Here are some more pics of the visit!

G'ma and G'pa Sula Visit!

It was a great week with G'ma and G'pa Sula! We went on many adventures throughout the valley, gondola happy hour at the village, water park playtime, Rockefeller preserve, phelps lake hike, lots of park play time and horse visits on evening walks, a Maddie G'ma and G'pa date night,Gumballs, Browse n buy, Moo's Ice Cream and lots more here are a bunch of pics! Thanks for the fun visit Grandma and Grandpa Sula!!!

Friday Hike

Today the kids and I "hiked" to the Snake River Beach via the Murie Center with a whole herd of friends! Polly and Phoebe are back in JH, visiting from New York - loads of fun to see them, and to see the amazing 2.5 year old that Phoebe has become! We brought umbrellas for sun protection, but they served to keep the rain off of us as a short thunder/rain storm rolled through. After the rain cleared, the kids ended up stripped from the waist down and had a great time throwing rocks into the river, digging in the sand, finding frogs and salamanders (rare finds around here!), and hiding from each other along the trail on the way home.

Pictures of Miles

Here are a few picts of Miles' on-goings these last few days... Miles chatted with Grandpa Sula for at least 30 minutes, maybe more! I attribute his first night of full sleep to all of the focusing he did while chit-chatting! Miles camped out at the park, and Miles in his formal attire (David's onesie shirt from when he was little).

Madelyn has also been busy - playdates with her old buddy Sita, biking, picking raspberries at all of our secret back-alley locations, Browse and Buy with Grandma and Mama, and settling in to her new "quiet time" (vs. battling nap time!) routine.

The 'Sulas arrive!

Grandma and Grandpa 'Sula arrived last night! Madelyn could not have been more wound up about it last night. After a late night and early morning, we ventured to the Art Fair this morning to hear Anne and Pete performing. Face painting, lemonade, kettle corn, bus rides... good times!

The picture of Madelyn and Tate is from Thursday - Madelyn had a date with Tate all day, and did a little chilly swimming in the back yard. Too cute!

Kiddy pool photo shoot

I just couldn't help myself... the cowboy hat and inside-out swim suit was a look I couldn't pass up:)

8.10.11

Let's see, what's going on this week... Madelyn finished up her swim lessons - she is now a pretty good floater, getting a stronger kick, fearlessly jumps in to the pool, and picks rings off the bottom of the pool. I asked her if she wanted to sign up for the next round of classes and she said no, she wanted to try ballet instead. So I think this fall we'll be looking into dance classes.

We had king-crab-fest for dinner the other night (see picture). An outside affair for sure (P.U.!)... Michael's chance to burry himself up to his elbows in shells, butter, etc. Madelyn was into it, but only for as long as she could sit, which wasn't too long.

Miles' smile has finally arrived, although it seems to be impossible to catch on camera. I'll keep trying. We're still working on neck muscles - he has side-to-side stability with his head, and partial front-to-back, but he still flops around a bit when tired.

I was back in the classroom this week with my sub. I'm not officially returning until the fall, but it turns out that having a sub launch the year is still a lot of work on my part! So we'll put in a few more days here and there in the next few weeks trying to get it all set up.

Michael is out fishing today, the first time in too long. The beauty of a flexible work week!:) He reports that his stretch of the Snake River is looking good, and not crowded at all.

Miles at 7 weeks

Miles is "waking up" more and more each week. He is smiling more, "talking" more, grabbing on to our clothing, holding his head up a little better although not quite on his own... sleeping 4-5.5 hours during that first stretch at night, and 3 hour stretches after that. A very easy baby all in all - pretty predictable sleep/wake cycles, and is mostly easy to sooth. We are grateful!

Camping at Jenny Lake

On Tuesday afternoon we motored up to Jenny Lake in the Park and met up with the Haspela crew - so much fun! We hung out by the lake and played at the "beach," Hazel and Madelyn were entranced by the camel back (see picture - SUPER hydrated girls!)), we were watchful for a nearby mama and baby black bear, had dinner together, the girls rode their bikes/scooters up and down the campground... and both Mike and I, and Kev and Woolfy got 15 minute "dates" while the other couple watched the kids! What a treat! MIles and I snuck home at bed time and Mike and Maddie had a great time in the tent... Madelyn reported a rousing game of go-fish, and that Papa told her scary ghost stories that weren't very scary! Loads of fun!
