Birthdays and Piggy Banks

Madelyn and Michael put together a perfect family birthday party for me on Tuesday - I came home to find the two of them huddled under a blanket on the back porch (still a bit chilly!), Madelyn waving a birthday poster/card that she made. And then on to home made Pad Thai, AND a berry pie that they made together! The perfect end to a day!

Here's a clip of Madelyn playing with her newly made piggy bank tonight. She was inspired by finding a quarter on our walk around the block the other day, and now has her eyes peeled for coins around the house.

Here's a little sneak of Madelyn, practicing to be a big sister! Here is our newest little friend Bode (Tate's new little brother) at age 8 days. Madelyn did a great job holding Bode all by her self!

Back from the brink!

Whew, what a week?! Madelyn came down with Mike's stomach bug early Monday morning - and was nothing more than a sad puddle on the floor for the following 5 days. She had her second ER visit in the past 3 weeks, this time for IV drip to rehydrate. Not fun, poor kiddo, but she was a trooper, as was Mike who stayed home with her for 4 of those days!! BUT, by the time I came home on Friday, she was propped upright, which was a minor miracle! And by Saturday she was crawling in our bed early in the morning to start her "grocery list" of all of the food we should buy so that she could fill her tummy up! Needless to say, there's been a lot of bananas, eggs, cream cheese and ice cream in the picture over the last few days to try and put some weight back on this already thin gal!

The upswing to this week is that Madelyn got her cast off! I had to carry her in on Tuesday, limp and pathetic. Trust me, I tried to cancel the appointment, but Madelyn INSISTED, even in her weakened state, and was a force to be reckoned with. THe doc cut the cast off and after seeing her elbow, said that is was most likely a fracture, which meant another week or so for complete healing. So, we slipped the cast back on, wrapped it with an ace bandage to keep it on, and went back to the livingroom floor:). Madelyn has been sleeping in it, but at least we could slip it off for a bath. As of yesterday, we started taking the cast off more and more, and today she's been cast-free and starting to use her arm a bit more, which has been fun to watch.

Here's the only picture we have of Madelyn from the last week - yesterday morning she wanted to play dress up (a delightful change from 5 days of pretty yucky jammies!). She looks pretty morose here, but she is just intently listening to a story.

That's the news from here... I hope to have more exciting reports next week!

ZION NP Pt. 3 Pics

We had three families camping at the Campground with a fourth joining the last night, with ages of 1,2 and 3...which was alot of fun to see. Maddie was the oldest, with Karston Bessonette 2 years old and Levi 1 year old. Good stuff!

Here are some pics of the trip!

Utah Sunshine Spring Break Pt. 1

Well, we made it south for the second week of Lisa's spring break. Maddie was a great road tripper, and was all set up in the back seat, thanks to Lisa. The first night we stayed in SLC, and visited the aquarium before heading south to the desert. We woke to 5 inches of fresh snow in SLC but the aquarium was fun and the highlight was the "hands on tank" of sting rays and the penguins, plus some amazing saltwater tanks.

Then it was off to the desert and some sun. We were in St. George the first night and were greeted with sun and 70 degree weather. We lounged at a local park, flew a kite and took it easy that afternoon. After a long night in the hotel due to a stomach bug that hammered Michael we headed over to Zion. Lisa and Maddie were able to catch up with the Windors and the Bessonette's who had arrived earlier. We set up camp and soaked up the sun, did some short hikes, played a the beach and took in some beautiful sunsets. The last night we had a gathering of Jackson folks for dinner with s'mores to top it off. It was a great trip had by all and Maddie was not ready to leave as she threw a bit of a fit as we took down the tent. As lisa put it best on our way back to SLC from Zion, "we did ok for a 24 hr stomach bug, a 3 year old with a broken arm and a 6 month pregnant lady on a camping trip!" So, we look forward to the next adventure! Here are a few pics with more to follow.
