My latest find at Browse N' Buy (our local thrift store) inspired us to pile into the car and get Madelyn her first pet(s) today. You would think that getting gold fish would be as simple as going to the local pet store... few things are that simple in Jackson!
The local pet store went out of business last year and the closest pet store is now in Driggs (up and over the pass, North through Victor, and then to Driggs). We couldn't go through Victor without stopping at our friends' house to visit and feed their horse carrots. And of course on the way home (with 4 fish in our hot, hot car) we had to make a potty and snack stop... it was a 4+ hour affair! And well worth it:)
Madelyn picked out the 4 fish, and the green rocks by herself. She didn't seem too interested in much else in the pet store, she only had an eye for fish today!
Here's Madelyn naming her new friends. Henry was a name she had predetermined before we even got the fish, but the others just came to her. I love that she named the white fish "Apple," - she was thinking of her favorite white horse at the Snow King stables, where we often walk and loiter for hours. Where the other names came from, I have no idea!
