Happy 4th

Happy 4th!

We thuroughly enjoyed the parade this morning- tractors, horses, dancing sparkly ladies, Shriner cars, fire trucks, the works. We were lucky enough to catch up with Ryan (from our grad class) and his lovely wife Anna tonight. Ryan was up for Madelyn's antics so he ended up with a blue chalk leg by the end of the night;)

We have been playing hard this week, and on top of it, Madelyn had strep! After 24 hrs of antibiotics she was right as rain. Here the kids are in Kelly, building a fort by the river on Wednesday. Madelyn helped construct, and then in true Madelyn fashion, she decorated the 'house' with well placed leaves speared on sticks. Funny how that persona plays out, even out in 'the wilds' ;)

Snow King burn

Robin and I hiked up Snow King and back into the drainage behind it today to check out the burn from this fall- so amazingly beautiful, it's incredible that we can hike from town and be in such a scenic spot is so little time!! Here us a 360 and some shots of the flowers that are still in peak and carpet the whole area.

Summer fun!

Well, for taking it easy, we sure are busy!! The kids have been doing swim lessons twice a week- Madelyn is a little fish, and Miles... Well, Miles likes to swim on his own terms but isn't sold on the idea of lessons quite yet.

We hit Kelly Warm Springs after swim lessons today and had it all to ourselves.

This afternoon we created a cheer station for the passing bike racers, complete with dress-up and music. What a sidewalk crew!

Also, a few days ago we tried gold panning for gems and cool fossils with our friends the Goewerts, big hit with the kids.

Madelyn also spent a 'quiet time' building a newspaper bridge with me - we rested it's strength, it collapsed at 42 books!

Portland and hood river

The last few days have been equally busy as the first few! Madelyn and I had a breakfast date at the French bakery- delicious (well, Madelyn thought hers was too chocolaty). We headed out to Hood River to visit Woolfy and Margot and crews... Dinner was so much fun- 6 busy bodies, the dinner line-up picture was a minor miracle! We had a great visit, met Hazel and Cate's chickens, and loved exploring their new house (new to us). The following day, all 6 kids had a "kid party" at daycare while Margot, Laura, and I won't on a little hike. I am kicking myself for neglecting to get pictures of the 3 of us, but we were on the go-go! As evidenced by Miles, who racked out in his seat about a minute onto the road back to Portland. We are playing HARD! And with that.... We are off to the zoo this morning!:)
