Dress-up fun
An action shot from our latest bag-o-fun... we inherited a huge bag of dress up clothes. Madelyn zeroed in on the pom-poms and Lennon glasses right away!

Maddie and her tummy
Dancer's Workshop performance
Madelyn and I went on a Maddie-Mama date last night to the spring performance put on by our local Dancers' Workshop... all of the dance classes put on a small performance piece - the were all fantastic, from the 4 year olds to the adults! Madelyn was thrilled for the opportunity to get gussied up - she put on a dress, tights, and special necklace for the occasion. She sat through the first piece, and then couldn't keep her body from moving. She was toe-tapping and dancing up and down the isle all night, ! I see many a dance class in this child's future. Perhaps this summer?
The Snake River "beach"
Last weekend we went out on a short family adventure to the Murie Center... we found ourselves at "The beach," ie: Snake river banks. We had a great picnic, playtime in the sand, heard sand-hill cranes and grouse, found lots of cool tracks and bones and buttercups, and threw rocks in the water. You just can't beat that on a spring day!

bike maintenance, etc.
Madelyn has been trying her hand at photography... here are two of her latest shots: Mama's belly, and Mama on the couch.
We've also been able to get out and do some more biking (well, Maddie and Michael at least!). Madelyn propped her bike up on our neighbor's porch and did a little maintenance. Back up and running! She's really starting to get the hang of the strider bike, which was still a bit of a challenge last fall.
And last but not least, here's Dr. Krasula. She was diagnosing my pretend cold. Her prescription for me: drink water, eat cinnamon and watermelon, and get lots of rest. I'll think take her up on it!

Julias Birthday Party
Maddie and Michael went to a great birthday party for Julia Krugh, our friends Brad and Charlotte's daughter, last weekend. She and a friend turned three and had a party at the Center for the Arts Dancers Workshop so Maddie was very excited to get her boogie on, as well as eat cupcakes! It was a great spot and nice to be indoors as we were getting lots of rain last weekend. It seems spring/summer is finally arriving as the last few days have been sunny and in the 60's!
Maddie has been riding her strider bike since the snow melted, she is really getting the hang of it, and is more confident than ever. It's great to see her take to it. We went on a pretty long walk yesterday to see the "Big" horses as she likes to call them and she rode her bike for the majority of the time, just cruising! Need to get some pics of that.
Also, This is a great clip of Maddie dancing like a monkey! With Maddie's friend Tate in the background "dancing" like a snake across the floor, hilarious! Enjoy.

Easter and on
Just stumbled upon some pictures we hadn't loaded... we had great fun this year experimenting with natural egg dyes! THis year Tate and crew came over and we did two different types of eggs: eggs died in turmeric (yellow), and eggs wrapped with onion skins (both yellow and red). They turned out great, and best of all, we felt good giving them to the kids to eat. The onion skin eggs were especially fun - Madelyn and I collected old onions from the grocery store. Then peeled off the outer layers and saved them for the project. We put each raw egg in a nest of onion skins, sprinkled in rice and grass (for added textural effects), and then wrapped the whole package in some of MK's old T-shirts, tied them off, and boiled them. The results are hard to see, but you'll have to trust us, they were beautiful! Madelyn and Tate used crayons on some HB eggs that went into the turmeric dye - also great results!
Also, here is a picture of Madelyn and I tonight - we were goofing around with the camera timer. Madelyn was taken tonight with the idea of my big belly as a pillow. In fact, yesterday she addressed me as "Big Mama," endearingly meant, and a title I've only recently grown into:).
