Had a great morning - went out with Bryan and Emily and found morels! It's been really cold (and snowy at times!) over the last few weeks, so it was a real treat to not only be ably to enjoy ourselves outside, but to find mushrooms too! Madelyn is clearly hooked... "lets go find some more!"
Here's a few clips of us "hunting" and a few fun pictures of M with a robin's egg that Bryan found for her. It lasted a few minutes in her hand before it fell and broke open. Oops!

Memorial Day Parade
In Jackson the annual kick-off to Memorial Day Weekend is the "Old West Days Parade." A pretty chilly day (snow!?), but Madelyn seemed to think it was well worth it to see all of the horses!
After the parade, we came home and warmed up. Leah came over to play and Madelyn got all dressed up in her tutu and butterfly wings. Here she is still in her garb, well after Leah left... in fact, she's currently taking a nap in her dress-up attire right now.

playing rocks and laughing Buddha
I had to laugh, looking at these pictures and clips... yes, Madelyn dressed herself... The base layer was "wear black day" at daycare, and rapidly spiraled to more layers with after-school play, discussion of tank tops, etc. The wrist guard is the cherry on top - Madelyn found it in the "free box" at a garage sale a few weeks ago, she claimed it was "good junk!"
Buddha lives on our neighbor Scott's porch and is quickly becoming a favorite. Madelyn refers to Buddha as a she (which I have to cheer for!) because of the big man-breasts! Love it! The picture is of Madelyn imitating Buddha's laugh.

Maddie Reads/sings
For some reason, this little Mac how-to book has captured Madelyn's attention. It has no pictures, only words, and she can't get enough of it! Must be the size...

Happy Mothers Day to all
Happy Mothers Day to all of our favorite mothers out there!
Madelyn, with a little help from Michael, delivered a great bag of "treats" to me in bed this morning - lychee nuts (my favorite fruit-in-a-can), an organic gardening magazine, and a beautifully decorated card.
We went up to Polly and Wayne and Phoebe's house for brunch and had fun playing out side (finally!?). Madelyn was excited to play with her buddies, march over Phoebe's "bridge," and play bubble-mania in the grass.
This last one is a cute picture from earlier this week that I forgot to post. Leah came over after being away for a week or so, and Madelyn was just besides herself with excitement. She and Leah had a little tea party together, filled with lots of "cheers!"

A Hike to the Murie Center
Today we got out early enough to beat the weather and enjoyed blue skies on our walk to the Murie Center. For those who do not know the Muries, they pioneered the conservation movement, and the Murie Center is a very special place in this valley where Olaus and Mardy homesteaded until Mardy passed away at the age of 101 just a few years ago. We enjoyed looking for early-season buttercups, yellow-bells, birds, and...alligators!
