Another (unsuccessful) morel hunt, but lots of fun to get out and about...

Visitor Center and Harmonicas
On Saturday we went out to the Jackson Visitor Center to look for some birds. Madelyn found the biggest birds of all and was pretty excited to follow the geese around the lawn.
Here's a clip of Maddie playing her new favorite instrument (move over whistle!). She and Papa practiced up this morning with great results! Yesterday she was blowing on it the long ways, and today we've got music!:)

Spring Fun!
Today I felt like we'd seen and done it all before 8:00am! Maddie and I were up early - we checked out the park and saw lots of birds and the "new" creek" (the town diverts water and runs it through the park seasonally)... should be lots of fun to play in on upcoming hot days! We also hit a few garage sales and scored some fun baby stuff, including the yellow slinky (this video's for you G-ma Jude!) Watch Madelyn go running after what she thought was a dog at the end!
Mid-day we set out for Jill's house. Madelyn remembered the watering can that she was playing with the other night and spent a good deal of time "watering the plants" (and her pants) in the garden. We headed out on the Snake River corridor and went on a walk, keeping an eye out for morels (no luck, another few days I think!). Madelyn did a great job in her backpack... she was resisting it for a while there, but I think it is really going to make our summer!
Bryan came over later in the evening and Madelyn was so excited to see him! And she had a great time with his field hat - it's as big as she is!

Finally, a sunny weekend!
What a great weekend! FINALLY, the rainy/cold weather seems to have cleared...
Mike spent Saturday doing a "casual" BIG DAY with Bryan and Mike W.... for those of you who are not birders, that's birder language for a full day of birding. Lisa spent the day garage sale hopping with Maddie and Jess W. Jess and Lisa snuck away in the evening for the "locals' special" at Spring Creek - a pampered overnight at a resort up on the butte. Yes, complete with 3 course meals, hot-tub, luxurious robes, breakfast the next morning, etc. It was great!
We spent lots of time in the park, and also got our chariot stroller hooked up to the bike so we are now even more mobile!
Here are a few fun pictures of Maddie these days... she is enjoying a little chair that she can climb in and out of (look at all of that hair?!), also a whistle and harmonica (not pictured, but coming soon), and is starting to say "hi" and "bye-bye" like a mad-woman! And if you look closely of the pictures of M out on the porch, you might spot a little hair clip - yet, M's hair is finally long enough to start experimenting:)

Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's day to all of our favorite moms out there!
Madelyn and I went to the park this afternoon. Cats (watch for Madelyn quickly signing "whiskers" for cat in the beginning of the video), dogs, balls, new friends, AND we met up with the Lewis family! So much fun! Madelyn has been sick the past few days and hadn't really had much interest in food... until she saw that Lewis' picnic spread - she finally broke her fast and ate the Lewis' out of house and home!

Madelyn comes to school
Madelyn was in my classroom earlier this morning and MAN!> My kids were on her like white on rice! It was too funny! I found them crawling around the room right along side her, where ever she went!

Back in action
Well, as many a grandparent noted, we haven't posted anything new in a while... Lisa's computer was in "the shop," so no blogging. We've spent a week of laying low in some rainy weather, sneaking to the park when the weather lets up. Madelyn has been bringing her shoes, hat, and coat to any willing person in an effort to communicate that she's ready to get OUT!
Looking forward to some milder spring weather!
